Title Junior Staff Accountant
Requirements Qualified candidates will possess: - A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance - 1+ years of experience - Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications - Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Function A Leading Real Estate Company located in Bergen County, New Jersey is searching for a Junior Staff Accountant who will handle the following responsibilities:
Duties - General ledger, cash management, tenant activity and management fee calculations of all real estate product types, including small, medium and large properties - Perform analysis of accounts receivable and accounts payable - Work under general supervision and contributes to the overall financial reporting of each property - Work closely with staff accountants and senior accountants to produce timely and accurate work of the team’s assigned properties - Review and analyze tenant statements, unapplied cash receipts and aged receivables reports - Ensure tenant billings are correct by reviewing rent toll billings and verifying billing adjustment - Investigates discrepancies and partners with property managers, district managers and other field employees to reconcile and correct as needed - Review of cash receipts processing, miscellaneous invoices and assisting the manager of the property with delinquency follow-up - Review accounts payable in the electronic invoice system - Oversee check run processing, including review of invoices submitted by properties - Conduct the cash management process for assigned properties, including maintaining cash logs, initiating wire transfers to fund level and preparation of bank statement reconciliations - Review tenant move-in and move-out activity for assigned properties to ensure accuracy of information in CTI. If there are discrepancies, investigates and notifies lease coordinator of changes needed - Create security and prepaid rent deposits for move-ins; calculates amounts owed or due upon tenant move-outs - Review lease abstracts and validates information between the lease and the CTI tenant profile - Calculate management fee for properties on monthly basis based on management agreements and processes the management fee invoices - Prepare sales and use tax return and processes for payment in applicable states - Perform month end general ledger analysis and determines proper accrual entries to record for the reporting period - Update balance sheet support schedules and modules - Assemble and disseminates financial packages for property managers - Research audit requests from internal and external sources - Maintain regular and professional communication with office staff, vendors, property managers, portfolio management, portfolio accounting and auditors - Must be familiar with and adhere to accounting policies as described in the property management accounting guide - Other duties as assigned by senior accountant or accounting manager
