Scientist/Senior Research Associate – Polymeric Materials Analysis: Selected candidate will identify and apply suitable analysis techniques for determining the morphology, composition, and properties of polymer materials, particularly at the micron and sub-micron scale, and will conduct other characterization techniques as needed.
Client is a growing pharmaceutical company located in Northern California specializing in the discovery and development of novel polymer-based therapeutics.
Requirements:
- MS or PhD in Materials Science, Polymer Science, Chemical Engineering, Physics, or related field
- 3+ years research or product development experience, applying two or more of the following techniques to the analysis of polymers: fluorescence microscopy (confocal or deconvolution); electron microscopy (SEM, TEM); scanned-probe microscopy and analysis (e.g. AFM); surface analytical techniques such as XPS, AES, SIMS.
- Ability to critically interpret data is a requirement – strong fundamental understanding of the principles, strengths, and limitations of different analytical techniques.
- Experience in biomaterials, medical devices, or drug delivery preferred; candidates with experience in other areas (e.g. semiconductor, storage, fuel cells, membranes) will also be considered.
Responsibilities:
- Support material analysis activities in both research and development.
- Acquire, operate, and maintain selected instrumentation in-house
- Manage outsourced analytical work at multiple CROs – select appropriate analysis techniques and vendors; manage flow of samples and data; insure quality work by CROs; document and present results.
